*Haggle: to argue in order to agree on
the price of something.
1. What is the anecdote about?
2. Why did she go to New York in the first place?
3. Why did she and her friend Elton go to Manhattan?
4. What time was the last train back to New Jersey?
5. How much was a taxi there?
6. How much did Elton agree to pay the taxi driver?
7. What happened when they got to New Jersey?
8. Why did Elton leave the car?
9. What happened next?
10. How was she feeling when they got home?

1 comment:
1.It's about a time when she was nearly kidnapped by a taxi driver in New York.
2. Because she went to a friend's wedding.
3. The friend lives in New Jersey and they went to Manhattan to have a laugh, to go to some bars, to go clubbing.
4. It was at 12.30.
5. About 120 dollars.
6. 70 dollars.
7. They realised the taxi driver didn't know the way.
8. Because the taxi driver asked him to ask for directions at a petrol station.
9. The taxi driver took off with her in the back. She asked him where they were going but he didn't answer. She could see Elton running after the taxi trying to catch up with them. Finally, the taxi driver had to stop at the traffic lights and Elton could open the door and asked him what he was doing. He said he was going to ask for directions. It was four in the mornin and there was no-one around. Elton paid him and they walked the rest of the way.
10. She was shaking up by the experience.
